Mythic Combat at Edfu
Ptolemaic inscriptions at Edfu recount Horus’ battles against Seth’s confederates, dramatized with ritual choreography and spatial processions across the temple’s courts and gateways.
Winged Sun & Protection
The winged sun disk (Behdety) above portals protects thresholds; reliefs narrate its origin as a sign of victory and warding. The emblem spread widely as a protective frieze across Egypt and beyond.
Legacy
Edfu’s long texts preserve a theatre of order; museums hold architectural fragments with winged disks that still crown doorways with serenity.
